Elusive ‘H’ & The Kamikaze Fever Strikes

It’s where I was supposed to be already.  Like. . . . by Friday.  Due to a sudden and mysterious fever spike,my chances of heading home were swiped, and still remain elusive.  We have yet to determine what caused the spike, but the surgeon thinks it was the removal of the drainage line from one of my incisions that released some “dark humors”.  I alluded to this event in a previous post’s commentary as feeling like The Matrix’s Neo must’ve felt when that metal bug thing was removed through his belly-button.  It didn’t really hurt, but wasn’t a pleasant sensation either.  Regardless, I went from being upbeat and energetic that Thursday afternoon to tired and achy in a matter of minutes.  I felt better Thursday evening, but knew that I would have to go 24 hours fever-free before the hospital would release me so a triumphant return home Friday was not in  my future.

The same thing happened early Saturday morning.  Friday we were all lined up and ready to be home by lunchtime Saturday.  Around 2:30am Saturday, the fever returned along with the abdominal pains.  We had removed Dilaudid from my arsenal due to my projected hospital release so oral Norco was adminsitered which obviously takes longer to set in than an IV-administered med.  The fever and pain has since subsided, fortunately; however, we still do not have a reason for what is causing these kamikaze fever strikes.  It’s about 10am right now and Leslie and I have yet to speak to a doctor on their thoughts, or angle of pursuit to determine what is causing all this.

I’ll keep you posted.  Oh, look.  Twilight Zone is on Netflix.  Sweet.

    1. Netflix is doing the job these days. Thanks, though. Still waiting to hear from the doctor. I feel better at the moment, and would be comfortable at home if not for feeling weary about another fever spike.
